The attacks come only days after Sudan agreed on a principal to a United Nations plan to strengthen African peacekeeping efforts in Darfur. But Sudanese Foreign Minister Lam Akol said his government had not agreed to a mixed peacekeeping mission, saying the UN had simply offered technical support. The United Nations Humanitarian chief Jan Egeland has expressed concern that the ambiguity could signal possible storing attacks ahead. The British Prime Minister Tony Blair has arrived in Pakistan for talks with the President General Pervez Musharraf. The discussions are expected to focus on the security situation in neighboring Afghanistan and cooperation on countering terrorism Barbara Plett reports. “During a one day visit, Tony Blair will meet Pakistan’s president and Prime Minister. Talks will include the Taliban-led insurgency that British troops are fighting in nearby Afghanistan. The Foreign Ministry Hill said both sides would discuss cooperation in dealing with it. British commanders have accused Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf of not doing enough to curb cross-border infiltration by militants into Afghanistan.
