Mr. Blair who was speaking after talks in Kabul with the Afghan leader said Britain would stay until the militants were beaten. President Karzai said international forces must remain as long as it took to bring security to Afghanistan. Mr. Blair reiterated his commitment to achieving peace and prosperity in Afghanistan. We believe that Afghanistan rather than being abused as a haven for terrorists and for the Taliban to oppress people. The Afghanistan and its people deserve the chance to increase their prosperity and to live in a proper democratic state. President Bush is holding talks with his Indonesian counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono outside the Indonesian capital Jakarta. Thousands of police and soldiers were deployed in the town of Bogor. And students and Muslim groups held noisy demonstrations against US policy in Iraq and elsewhere in the Islamic world. Police in Germany say a gunman who stormed into a school and started shooting at staff and students has been killed. Police didn’t say how he died. Commanders had surrounded the school in the West German town of Emsdetten. Reports said the gunman was an 18 year' old former student. A high-level commission of inquiry in Nepal has found King Gynanedra responsible for suppressing large-scale pro-democracy demonstrations in April. Security force action against protestors left at least 21 people dead and several thousands injured. The panel's also implicated more than 200 other people. Charles Heavilen reports from Katmandu A member of the inquiry panel told the BBC that King Gynanedra who at the time headed the country's cabinet had been deemed to be responsible for what he called "the exercises". The member H said 202 people had been implicated in total, including the entire royal cabinet of the time. The findings have not yet been published but local media say the commission has not recommended any punishments for the crushing of the demonstrations, saying the current constitution doesn’t provide for such action. Reports say the panel has recommended the enactment of new temporary laws to enable action to be taken. A major new report on health in Africa has warned that some of the biggest health problems on the continent are getting worse. The study by the World Heath Organization says a growing number of mothers are now dying during childbirth and chronic illnesses such as diabetes on the increase. The study also lists some causes for optimism case including an eightfold increase in the number of HIV patients who now have access to anti-retroviral drugs. An international anti-drug operation has intercepted a submarine off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, carrying more than three tons of cocaine.
